Steve Puleo, CPA

Here’s something that might seem surprising given his choice of career: Steve Puleo’s enjoyment of working as a CPA has “absolutely nothing to do with numbers.”

It does, however, involve delivering great customer service, a trait that serves him well as a member of the Rudler team.

“For me, it’s about helping businesses and individuals save money and provide sound financial advice for the future,” said Puleo. “I’m more analytical, which is a gift that I have. This allows me to work with creative minds who may not be great with numbers or who are more focused on other aspects of their business. I’m able to guide them through their business to not only survive, but to be profitable, hire new employees and expand their revenue stream and I really enjoy that about my job.”

Steve, a native Brooklyn-ite now living in Florida, joined Rudler in Sept. 2022 as a fully remote Senior Tax Manager. He brings with him a wealth – pun intended – of experience. Graduating from Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY) in 1987 with his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Information Systems, Steve has spent the last few decades working as a self-employed CPA.

He credits a friend for introducing him to the Rudler team. He was drawn to the organization’s investment in its employees, community and upbeat culture, which made a strong impression upon him. “They have, events, they're charitable, they do volunteer days,” he says. “I just thought that was a great philosophy to have and they go beyond just accounting.”

He plans to extend the same level of friendliness the Rudler team has welcomed with to all the clients he serves.

“Rudler was the right choice for me because they're a fantastic group and more like a family than anything else,” he says. “It almost makes me want to relocate.”

Steve lives in Homosassa, Fla. With his dog, Zoey, and cat, Bella. He has one adult daughter, Danielle, who is a songwriter. In his free time, he volunteers with the Homosassa Civic Center. He also enjoys golfing, fishing and the great outdoors in general when he is not busy crunching numbers to help Rudler’s clients.
