Karen A. Daugherty, CPA, CGMA

Karen Daugherty can now count three generations of her family in public accounting. She followed her father and father-in-law by getting her CPA license in 1990. Today, her son is a CPA. She loves the variety of her work, and also enjoys having the common language of accounting to share within her family. Her daughter is a human resources professional, and Karen can also relate to that industry through her work with closely held businesses, not-for-profits and benefit plans.

Karen joined Rudler, PSC in 2017 after working for several years at other public accounting firms in the area. She liked their flexible work environment and technology solutions. The majority of her time is spent in daily accounting, bookkeeping and tax planning for clients. She also has experience in audits for wholesale and retail operations as well as not-for-profits and government entities. She has a particular focus in benefit plan administration. Her years of experience and continuing education add context and value to every engagement.

Clients view Karen as loyal, responsive and willing to go the extra mile to support their goals. She is also skilled at working with a variety of personalities; somehow she can find common ground with anyone. She enjoys meeting new people and learning new things. This trait has kept her career fresh and interesting every day.

Now that her children are starting homes of their own, Karen and her husband look forward to hosting everybody for holidays each year. Her family is also very involved with Welcome House in Covington, KY. Karen served as board chair when the organization recently acquired and completely rehabbed six buildings in Covington to provide sustainable affordable housing for people in need.

Community Involvement

Karen is a current member of Welcome House Outreach, a fundraising arm of Welcome House that hosts events to support the organization, after recently serving as the president and as treasurer for over 10 years. She is also a past board member, board chair and treasurer of Welcome House. In addition, Karen is very involved in volunteer activities for her church, currently serving as a member of the Finance Committee.
