Nick Myers, Senior Accountant

In many families, the older brother is usually the one that gets to do everything first. Luckily there’s no sibling rivalry between Nick Myers and his younger brother Josh – and now that they work together at Rudler, PSC, they’ve made their careers a family affair.

“I had a job working for another company doing sales tax. My brother wanted to get out of what he was doing, which was collections as he didn’t really enjoy it. Our dad Carl knew a couple people at Rudler and told my brother to come to an open house and talk with them – he pretty much got a job offer on the spot,” Myers recalls of the June 2022 event that would see his younger brother join the Rudler, PSC team before following suit himself in October 2022. “Once he said he enjoyed working with the people and for the company, I said, ‘All right, let’s take a leap of faith and go for a position myself.’”

A native and resident of Union, Kentucky, Myers is a two-time graduate of the University of Cincinnati, earning his Bachelor’s in Business Administration specialized in accounting in 2017 and Master’s in Finance one year later. Interning with Clark Schaeffer Hackett while at UC, his first job post-graduation would see him working a franchise accounting clerk, helping to manage inventory reporting and taxes. That would then lead to another related position before landing at Rudler, PSC, with his brother, where he would quickly be promoted to Senior Tax Accountant in May 2023.

Given his background, it should come as little surprise he points to the firm’s family aspect as one of the things he enjoys most about working at Rudler, PSC.

“I like the opportunities here. You can do a little bit of everything, which is nice. You get to learn the inner workings of how things connect between different departments,” he says. “Rudler is kind of like a big family. There’s always something that you can connect with someone on here. You get to know everybody, which is nice.”

When not attending to client accounts, Myers can be found at the gym daily working on his physical fitness when not working or golfing with friends. Myers knows he has a lot of work to do to get better on the links. But since he takes the same approach to using a nine iron as he does his work as a Senior Tax Accountant at Rudler, PSC, having a can-do mentality is just par for the course.

“You can have one bad round and then all it takes is one good shot and you’re ready to go and play another 18 holes. Over time, you hope to get better at the aspects of the game you can work on,” he says. “It’s like my work at Rudler – you never know what you’re going to encounter during the day. Every golf course is different just like every return and client is different.”

Myers also enjoys gaming in his spare time, so much in fact, that once spent a year pursuing his passion of trying to become a professionally sponsored Fortnite player.
