Ritu Patel, Senior Accountant
A quick look into Ritu Patel family’s history should have indicated that a role in accounting was destined to happen eventually.
“My dad is an entrepreneur, and he earned his bachelor's in accounting and business. He inspired me to focus on business and accounting as well. He has built a wonderful empire for himself at this time in his life,” Patel says in speaking about the career path of her father, Haresh. “That's where I get my accounting background from. My brother's an accountant and my sister has an MBA as well. I proudly wanted to do it because I aspire to be like my dad.”
Now that she’s working as a senior accountant for Rudler, PSC, she’s carrying on tradition while carving out her niche.
After graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting at the University of Cincinnati before obtaining her Master of Business Administration at Northern Kentucky University, Ritu joined the Rudler, PSC team in Dec. 2023. This position is the latest in a career that has seen her work in a diverse set of roles, beginning with a tax internship at Fossett & Associates in 2017. Moving on to serve as an audit intern and assurance associate at RSM US of Cincinnati, Ritu has also worked as a risk specialist at Western & Southern Financial Group. Most recently, she was a senior operational risk and compliance analyst before joining the Rudler team.
Set to work in variety of departments at the firm including audit and associates (A&A) client accounting services (CAS), alternative minimum assessment (AMA) and tax preparation, she is already very happy she didn’t dismiss the advice of her father’s friend.
“He really talked up Rudler. He referred me to Rudler’s President, Alex Weidner. He said, ‘They’re a great company and I feel like your personality would fit well there,’” she recalls. “This firm is so much more than public accounting. I wouldn’t even call it public accounting because the culture is different, the environment is different – everyone has just been so warm and welcoming.”
She hopes to inspire the same sentiment in all those she will serve as part of the Rudler, PSC team.
“Rudler genuinely makes you feel like family. It's so funny; my husband recently said, ‘You've been in higher spirits lately’ and I replied, ‘I just feel comfortable and happy where I am right now,’” she says. “I want to network with clients and I would like to work somewhere where I can build a family sort of relationship.”
Away from work, Ritu enjoys spending time with her husband, Meet. She also enjoys cooking (poblano enchiladas are a specialty), reading and traveling (Switzerland being her next bucket list destination). She is also a practitioner of meditation, an activity that finds her referencing a new motivational quote on her smartphone weekly.
