“Tennis anyone?”

While that might be a typical question you hear at a park or country club, it might not exactly be the first one that comes to mind when it comes for potential career opportunities. Yet for Alexis Ludtke, it was the one that helped lead her to Rudler.

“I saw that Rudler was consistently one of Accounting Today’s Best Firms to Work For. Lucky for me, I played tennis with a woman who worked there,” Ludtke, Rudler’s new CPA Tax Manager, recalls. “I spoke to her after class one day after we learned that we were both CPAs. She mentioned she's worked at Rudler for a long time and raved about it, with so many great things to say. I was ready to make a move at that point.”

Now, she looks forward to best serving – pun intended – her clients to help them reach their goals.

An Amelia, Ohio native who graduated from Xavier University with her degree in Accounting and Finance, Alexis has more than a decade of working in public accounting and now finds herself in a similar capacity at Rudler, working primarily on tax and entity returns.

Working with numbers is a natural fit for Alexis, who views the field like solving a puzzle. “When I went to school, I originally tried to be a communications major, which was fine, but I just didn’t know if PR, writing or anything like that was really the path for me,” she says. “I like how accounting is like a puzzle. There’s a right answer and there are certain steps to get the answer.”

Now a resident of Cold Spring, Kentucky where she lives with her cat, Chloe, Alexis still enjoys sports in her leisure time, citing tennis, Xavier basketball and F-1 racing among her favorites. She also enjoys quality time with family and friends trying new restaurants and in past volunteer work with the League for Animal Welfare.

So, what lies ahead for Alexis? If she has her way, plenty of happy (tax) returns for all her clients.

“I really enjoy when the client is happy with the work and you’re able to take the stress off a client, because taxes can obviously be very stressful for a lot of people,” she says. “Just being able to be that reassuring person for them is a good feeling.”
