Kelsey Baker, Tax Manager

Growing up a fan of athletics in a small Northeastern Ohio town near the Pennsylvania border, Kelsey Baker knew at a young age she wanted to work in sports to provide more opportunities for children like herself. That led her to enroll at the University of Cincinnati, studying Sports Administration.
Then she had an assignment where she needed to interview athletic directors – and that led her to changing course regarding her future career plans.
“We had to interview professionals about their careers, and I spoke with a few athletic directors. Hearing them talk candidly about the challenges of the role made me step back and ask myself, ‘Is this something I want to pursue long-term?’ At the same time, I was really enjoying my accounting classes, so that combination of experiences ultimately led me to make the switch,” Kelsey said.
Now that she’s at Rudler, PSC, Kelsey is ready to show why that decision has proven to be the best one she could have ever made.
Kelsey joined the firm as a tax manager in Jan. 2026 after receiving her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in accounting from UC. In her role, she is tasked with developing staff and managing client relationships, expanding upon the same role she served at Mellott & Mellott when she joined that firm in Jan. 2016. Seeing several articles naming Rudler as a Best Place to Work in “Accounting Today,” Kelsey says she decided to pursue an opportunity with the company following the sale of her previous employer to a private equity firm.
One thing she loves about Rudler, is that everyone is willing to help and she plans to pass along that same inviting spirit to all the clients she serves.
“I look forward to growing relationships with all my clients,” Kelsey says. “Relationships are my favorite thing about my work as I consider myself more than just their CPA and strive for all my clients to feel the same.”
A resident of Cincinnati’s West Side where she lives with her partner, Taylor and their rescue dog, Carlos, Kelsey is a fan of her alma mater’s football and basketball teams. An outdoor enthusiast, she also tries to run a half marathon annually and has become a fan of hiking, Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah being a personal favorite.
